We are launching our short story writing competition titled write and win. The theme for this edition is “Dreams”. Both English and Sinhala language short stories under the theme are eligible to apply. So keep your pens/keyboards talking and submit your short story before 26th September 2025 to win Rs. 5000 worth gift vouchers. The rules and submission process are described below.
Rules of the competition
- No age limit.
- Only previously unpublished work will be eligible. (Writings that are featured on personal websites/blogs/social platforms are eligible)
- Language can be either English or Sinhala.
- The theme of this edition of the competition is “Dreams”. Any short story related to this theme will be eligible for consideration.
- Minimum word count is 750 words
- Deadline is September 26th Friday 2025 12.00 midnight.
- One participant can submit any number of short stories.
- No submission fee.
- Wachana team’s decision will be the final decision regarding the winner.
- Only the winning entry will be eligible for the Rs 5000 worth gift vouchers.
- One winner as well as few shortlist pieces (according to the amount of submissions) will be selected. These selected short stories will be published on wachana website, social media platforms and as a limited-edition short story collection in both physical and digital formats. - Winner and the shortlist stories will be announced after 6th October 2025.
Submission process
- All the authors who submit work should like/follow Wachana Facebook and/or Instagram pages. Those who are not will be disqualified from the competition. (If you don’t have a Facebook account, then following Instagram will be eligible to participate)
- Please mention short story title, author’s name and email
address clearly in the Microsoft Word document of your submission. (PDFs will not be accepted due to editing restrictions) - Fill the submission form below and upload the Microsoft Word document of your short story.

තරඟ කොන්දේසි
- වයස් සීමාවක් නොමැත
- මීට ඉහත පලනොවූ නිර්මාණ සඳහා පමණක් වලංගු වේ. (තම පුද්ගලික වෙබ් පිටු,බ්ලොග් සහ සමාජ මාධ්‍ය වල පල කරන ලද නිර්මාණ සඳහා අවස්ථාව හිමිවේ)
- භාෂාව සිංහල හෝ ඉංග්‍රීසි
- මෙවර තරඟයේ තේමාව “සිහින”. මෙම තේමාවට අදාල ඕනෑම කෙටි කතාවක් තරඟය සඳහා වලංගු වේ.
- වචන 750 වඩා වැඩි විය යුතුයි.
- කෙටිකතා ඉදිරිපත් කලහැකි අවසාන දිනය 2025 සැප්තැම්බර් 26 සිකුරාදා මධ්‍යම රාත්‍රී 12.00
- තනි නිර්මාණකරුවෙකුට ඕනෑම නිර්මාණ ප්‍රමාණයක් ඉද්‍රිරිපත් කලහැක
- ඉදිරිපත් වීම සඳහා ගාස්තුවක් අය නොකෙරේ.
- ජයග්‍රාහකයාගේ තීරණය වචන කණ්ඩායම සතුයි.
- ජයග්‍රාහී නිර්මාණයට පමණක් රු 5000 තෑගි වවුචර හිමිවේ.
- එක් ජයග්‍රාහක නිර්මාණයක් සහ කුසලතා නිර්මාණ කිහිපයක් (ලැබෙන නිර්මාණ සංඛ්‍යාව මත තීරණය වේ.) තෝරා ගන්නා අතර, එම නිර්මාණ වචන වෙබ් අඩවියේ සහ සමාජ ජාල වල පල කරන අතර පසුව එම නිර්මාණ එකතුව කෙටිකතා සංග්‍රහයක් ලෙස මුද්‍රිත සහ ඩිජිටල් මාධ්‍යයෙන් එලි දැක්වීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වේ. ගියවර තරඟයේ ජයග්‍රාහී සහ නිර්දේශිත කෙටිකතා මෙතනින් BubbleGum Edition 01 , BubbleGum Edition 02
- ජයග්‍රාහී නිර්මාණය 2025 ඔක්තොම්බර් 06 වනදායින් පසුව දැනුම් දෙනු ලැබේ.
නිර්මාණ යොමු කල යුතු ආකාරය
- සියලුම නිර්මාණකරුවන් වචන Facebook සහ/හෝ Instagram පිටු like හෝ follow කර තිබිය යුතුයි. එසේ නොමැති නිර්මාණකරුවන්ගේ නිර්මාණ තරඟයෙන් ඉවත් කරනු ලබයි.
- කෙටිකතා යොමු කල හැක්කේ Unicode වලින් type කරන ලද Microsoft Word Document ලෙස පමණි. FM/DL/Apex/CC Fonts යොදා type කරන ලද හෝ PDF ලෙස යොමු කරන කෙටිකතා තරඟයෙන් ඉවත් කරන බව කරුණාවෙන් සලකන්න. මෙයට හේතුව වන්නේ තෝරාගත් කෙටිකතා පසුව සංස්කරණය කිරීමට ගතවන කාලය බව කරුණාවෙන් සලකන්න.
- කෙටිකතාවේ නම, කතෘ නම සහ ඊමේල් ලිපිනය කෙටිකතාව එවන document එකේ පැහැදිලිව සඳහන් කරන්න
- පහත දැක්වෙන form එක පුරවා, තම කෙටිකතාවේ Microsoft Word document එක upload කරන්න
